CMS releases a new ICD-10-CM code set every year, effective for dates of service on and after October 1. Canvas loads each one into diagnosis search. Each year’s changes are listed below, newest first, from the CMS ICD-10 release.
2027 #
The 2027 ICD-10-CM code set takes effect for dates of service on and after October 1, 2026. Diagnosis search now includes 190 new codes, no longer includes 30 retired codes, and shows updated descriptions for 4 codes.

Retired codes #
Diagnosis search for a date on or after October 1, 2026, such as a note date or claim service date, does not return retired codes. Search for an earlier date still returns them, and diagnoses already recorded with a retired code keep it.
